The amount of water in your body ranges from 60-75%. High percentages of water are found in the brain, lungs, kidneys, muscles and throughout every cell in the body. We very quickly notice when our water content is becoming low; fatigue, aches and pains, fogginess and toxicity occur and in cases of severe dehydration we are easily overcome and death may result.
Water as an emotion is fear, governed by the Kidneys. The zodiac signs that are governed by water, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are considered emotional, intuitive, deep, sensitive and watery by nature. Water is strongly influenced by the Moon, water is tidal, changeable and creative. Water covers about 70% of the earth’s surface, without water the earth and all life on earth would quickly die. Water is lubricating, soothing, nutritious, a solvent, it feeds life and is a powerful force. If you try to trap water with a dam it will eventually build up enough force to break the dam. Water will always find a way. Over time it will soften and weaken an area, it will spread itself around an object or barrier and create tributaries and continue on its way. Water carries with it nutrients from along its path, it also moves waste and toxins out of areas, its moves across barriers and membranes, it is a conduit for energy. This is truth both in the external world and the internal. It is important to ensure water is clean, full of the right minerals, clear of poisons and chemicals and not clogged with debris. Given the right temperatures water can be both freezing and scalding. Water is detoxifying and cleansing. We can work to embody the principles of water, in our daily lives, by acknowledging and consciously working on ensuring that we take in enough water daily, through drinking fresh mineralised water, caffeine free herbal teas, fresh vegetable and fruit juices, fresh leafy greens such as lettuce, cucumber and celery and in fruits such as apples, watermelon and citrus. We can use aromatherapy diffusers to mist the air with healing fragrance, we can use neti pots to clear our sinuses of microbes and we can frequently wash our eyes to clear away the debris of the day. We can take walks and swim in the sea and rivers, bathe daily and appreciate and give reverence for the power that water holds, and also look at our lives and see where we can incorporate water’s incredible properties. Water always finds a way. The larger the expanse of water the more force it holds. “The mind is like water, when it is turbulent it is difficult to see. When it is calm everything becomes clear” Buddha
