A new approach to a New Year.
Well, what a year 2020 was. To say it was challenging is an understatement. It certainly pushed us all to re-evaluate our lives, question our world view and encouraged us to psychologically dig deep and look at where we stand and what we stand for. We are so incredibly fortunate to be here, at the bottom of the world in our island nation, relatively safe, and living, for the most part, normal lives. It is unnerving to observe the pressures and struggles of the rest of the world around us and I hope that you and your families and loved ones are all faring well and staying steady.
And here we are, navigating our way into a New Year, a year that may continue on in the same way, a year that we will see one of the biggest campaigns for eradication and normalisation that the world has seen in modern times, I have absolutely no doubt that this year will be equally as challenging, possibly in different ways as we continue to adapt and become more resilient to the world as we currently know it.
Personally 2020 pushed me to finalise some of the changes that have slowly been occurring with RANA HEALTH. As many of you know I am now living in Mangawhai Northland, last year I got the clinic here up and running and during the second lockdown had to make some hard decisions around the Orewa clinic. Some of you may have noticed that the booking system and website no longer offer the Orewa clinic as an option, however, I am still there, sharing a room with Angela (the beauty therapist) one day per week. I had to close the booking system option as it all just got a bit too chaotic, and I am now winding down my presence in Orewa, for your massage enquiries you can contact my colleague, Chris Sutton who is working out of Room 3 at Orewa House, he is a very kind man who is an excellent, experienced and highly qualified Massage therapist (and also a physiotherapy student), he is available for regular appointments and I highly recommend him to you.
When considering what to focus on with workshops this year it became apparent to me that the most pressing issue for everyone this year will be the introduction of the COVID vaccine. At Rana Health we are Pro-Choice with regards to vaccination. Free will is one of the inherent gifts given to humans and this allows us, if we live in a free world, the ability to choose what we deem as right for each of us, and our children, on an individual level. Whether you choose to take the COVID vaccine or not you will need to have your body in optimal working order, you will need to be able to filter, overcome and detoxify any virus that you may encounter and also any toxic by-product that your body may receive either via the vaccine or just through the environment around you. So with this in mind I will be running a series of online workshops focusing on detoxification for every system of the body. We are fortunate that we are in the position (as I write this) in NZ that we do not need to rush into receiving the vaccine in our communities immediately, this will give us time to see how the rest of the world fares with these new experimental medicines and also give us time to build up strong bodies and minds in preparation for when it does land here.
Please note, these workshops will not be a forum for vaccine debate. That is a discussion for you to have with your family and friends and to research thoroughly for yourself. My role as your natural health practitioner is to support you on your health journey and help you to be as strong as you can in your body and mind. Please go to the workshops page to read further information or contact me directly to register.
We will also have a go at running 1 day Massage therapy workshops again, these were unable to go ahead last year due to lockdown so hopefully we can go ahead with several of these days this year. This is an interest only workshop, during which you will learn how to give a 1 hour relaxation massage, it is a great workshop for couples but equally will be suitable for you to come along on your own, learn a new skill, give and receive massage and have great fun in the process. I will pack as much information and technique as I can into these days, so come ready to learn and to experience the gift of massage. These will be limited in numbers so that everyone has their own space/privacy on the day. Please visit the workshops page for further info.
I am also looking forward to being able to make accessible to you Liquid Herb Medicinal remedies, as well as some of the most popular products that we have in the clinic, such as the Organic India teas and some of the more regularly prescribed supplements via a Shop on the website. Setting up the Shop is a technical challenge for me so while I am still working on it I will just showcase blends as I have them ready via the newsletter, with information on each Medicinal Herbal blend and how to purchase them on a linked page. Hopefully I will have the shop fully functional before too long. We do love a good challenge! Here is the link to our first featured product- Immu-Tune a powerful blend of herbs to support and strengthen your immune response.
I also wanted to say it has been and continues to be a privilege to be your Massage therapist/Acupuncturist/Naturopath and Herbalist. The last 16 years in Orewa have been an incredible journey and I am looking forward to now extending, and continuing on that journey here in Mangawhai.
This has been a bit of a long newsletter as it has been a while since the last and there have been many changes since then, as always please do not hesitate to get in touch, preferably via email or text (it's much easier for me to reply quickly this way) if you have any questions or are due for a follow up and want to check in and make an appointment. I can still send you your herbal or supplement refills or prescriptions, take phone or zoom consults and/or do my best to refer you to someone else if you are looking for a new therapist.
I hope that the challenges of the past 12 months have fostered in you a feeling of adaptability and resilience, we are going to need these qualities now more than ever, as we move forward into the coming year. I will leave you with this gem I came across last year.
"The ANTIDOTE to FEAR is BRAVERY"
Much love and go well.
